An
OklahomaBassFishing.com Interview
Clifford Blalock
BFL Co-Angler Champion at Broken Bow Lake
By
Jerry Corbett
Clifford Blalock of Choctaw, OK,
earned $2,145 as the Co-angler Division winner thanks to a
three-bass catch that weighed in at 7 pounds, 9 ounces. He edged
past 163 Co-angler Division competitors to score his second BFL
top-10 finish of his career.
Clifford spent his day fishing out of the back of Carl Gantt’s boat.
Carl of Wright City, OK, ended up in 11th place with a 2 fish catch
weighing in at 6 pounds, 1 ounce good enough for a $412 check!
OBF- How many years have you participated in the Wal-Mart Bass
Fishing League events? Is this your first win?
Clifford- This will be my seventh year and my
first win. Its been a long wait but persistence finally paid off.
OBF- Tell our viewers a little about your day!
Clifford- Well, we just fished hard, it took
all day to get three fish! We weren’t really doing anything special.
OBF- What area of the lake did you and your angler concentrated on?
Clifford- The south end basically the main
lake. We did make a run up to the upper end to fish, but only for a
little while and then we came back down.
OBF- What type of technique did you guys use during the day?
Clifford- We basically spent the entire day
Carolina Rigging a little green pumpkin bait. It was real close to a
brush hog looking type bait.
OBF- What type of structure?
Clifford- Rocks! Rocky banks!
OBF- What depth were those fish holding in?
Clifford- They were mainly in ten to twelve
feet of water. We were actually throwing out into the deeper water,
the channel, and bringing it back up into the shallower water. If we
threw up to the back and brought it out to the deeper water we
wouldn’t get bit.
OBF- How about the wind? Did the wind make much of a difference in
your ability to catch those fish today?
Clifford- Actually, yes, when the wind started
blowing the fish quit biting.
OBF- Any finally comments?
Clifford- Well I’ve finished in the top ten
before with a fourth place finish, but this is my first win, and let
me tell you, it feels pretty good!
We here at OklahomaBassFishing.com would like to personally thank
Mr. Clifford Blalock for taking the time to answer some questions
