Just some other
thoughts on Rods and their care.
1. Never store rods by standing them
in the corner or against a wall that would
create a bend. This bend, if left for a
period of time, will become permanent.
Invest in a stand-up rod rack and store your
rods standing straight up and they perform
consistently over a long period of time and
eliminate twisting, which will occur with a
bend in the blank.
2. Use warm, soapy water and a wash
cloth to clean the cork grips and, if
necessary, a fine grit sand paper to get
those hard to remove discolorations off the
grips.
3. If your rod does not sport a hook
keeper on the blank, rather than purchasing
one of those cheap, rubber hook hangers that
will break after a few trips and plenty of
sun exposure, drill a hole in the "trigger"
part of the reel seat. This will create a
permanent, out-of-the-way hook keeper for
your rod.
