Loc-R-Bar

I installed a Loc-R-Bar on the front of my boat. The Loc-R-Bar is a security device to lock up your rod locker compartments on the front of your boat.

As you can see in the photo at the right. The Loc-R-Bar goes across the front of your boat from the port side to the starboard side.

You will also note the "Adapter For Front Tackle Box" that is installed. This protects both your forward compartments.

This is a photo of where the Loc-R-Bar is attached to the port side of the boat. Included is an aluminum attachment that the Loc-R-Bar goes into.

You do have to drill holes in both sides of your boat for the aluminum attachments to go into.

This photo shows you just how thick the stainless steel is in the smaller of the 2 pieces of the Loc-R-Bar.

To the left, you will see the lock that was supplied when I bought the Loc-R-Bar.

I will be glad to show anyone that sees me the Loc-R-Bar system. I do have the Loc-R-Bar lock with me so that I can show you the lock that is supplied when you by the Loc-R-Bar system.

The lock that was included was not long enough to go through the stainless steel bars and the "Adaper For Front Tackle Box". I went to Home Depot and picked up the lock pictured at the left.

This lock has a shackle diameter of 7/16". Which is a tight fit in the ½" holes that are drilled in the stainless steel pipes and the "Adapter For Front Tackle Box". At first I had to use a hammer to knock the lock through the holes. But after just a few times all I have to do now is to line up the holes and bump the lock with my hand to knock it through the stainless steel pipes and the "Adapter For Front Tackle Box".

In the photo on the side, you see that the shackle of the Master Lock is made of Boron Alloy which is tougher than steel.
