THE FISHING SALLEE BROTHERS
TAKE TULSA METRO CHAMPIONSHIP
The
Tulsa Metro Bass League CITGO Championship was held on Saturday and
Sunday, October 4th and 5th at Grand Lake out of Martin Landing.
Out-fishing 34 other teams, the fishing Sallee brothers from
Collinsville, Lincoln and Scott took home the1652 G3 Duck Boat with
a 40 hp, valued at over $7,500. The Sallees, also the 2003 Tulsa
Metro Anglers of the Year, brought a limit to the scales each day,
12.19 lbs on day one and 10.49 on day two, for a two-day total of
22.68 lbs.
In
Second Place, Ed Broaddrick and Rob Hendricks, both of Skiatook,
brought in 4-fish the first day for a total of 7.94. On day two, Ed
and Rob had a limit weighing in at 12.67 lbs., for a two-day total
of 20.61 lbs worth $675. Ed and Rob also brought in Big Bass of the
tournament, a 5.28 lb largemouth for an additional $200.
Third
Place and $400 went to Jack Barnes and Tony McMillan, both of
Catoosa. On Saturday, Jack and Tony brought in a limit at 9.84 lbs.
Sunday, they brought another limit to the scales of 10.52 lbs, for a
total of 20.36 lbs.
The top five places finished out as follows: Dave Roush, Skiatook
and Vance Montgomery, Claremore – (Day 1 – 5-fish/9.12; Day 2 –
5-fish/10.45; $350); Craig and Cody Smith, both of Dewey – (Day 1
5-fish/11.40; Day 2 – 5-fish/7.87; $300).
On the
first day of the tournament, 33 teams caught 93 fish, including 5
limits, for a total weight of 173.06 lbs. On day two, 27 teams
caught 109 fish, including 16 limits for a total weight of 222.68
lbs. A two-day total of 202 fish were caught, 21 limits, for a total
weight of 395.74 lbs.
Tournament Director Dave Roush said “I would like to thank everyone
that participated in Tulsa Metro this year. We had a great group of
people, as always. I also want to thank my staff. These guys work
very hard during the season to make sure everything goes smoothly. I
couldn’t do it without them.” “I wanted to say thanks, too, to all
of our sponsors and to encourage all of our anglers to spend their
money with them. The generosity of these sponsors make this league
possible.” Roush said.
Roush also said, “There are going to be some changes in the league
next year. I hope everyone will be back to fish with us again.”
