Fishing Information
My late Grandpa
taught me to fish on the Mississippi River, when I was just a little
guy, and I've been hooked ever since. That man was a Saint and he
always had time to take me fishing. I often fall back on the
knowledge he passed on to me, both on the water and life in general.
I was fortunate (or lucky) enough to win the first Bass Tournament I
entered, (U.S. Bass) in 1983 and that pretty much got the ball
rolling. I was thinking "there's nothing to this bass tournament
stuff." Boy, was I in for a rude awakening. I have since "got a
clue." Now I fish tournaments 12 months a year and have managed to
stay "in the black." I think my favorite tournament win was the
first tournament that I fished with my son. He was 5 years old at
the time and was already a pretty good little fisherman. We were
Carolina Rigging, at the Lake of the Ozarks, and it didn't take him
long to figure out that the Zebco 33 combo I had set up for him
wasn't going to do the job for him. He set it down (and later kicked
it in the lake) and picked up a baitcast combo I had rigged up and
after a few quick instructions, started casting. I thought he would
have it so back-lashed I would need scissors to clean out the
"bird's nest." He had a few minor problems but did amazingly well
and even caught a keeper that culled. That fish was his first keeper
and it put us over the top, as we only won by ounces. Since then he
has become quite a fisherman and has "kicked dads butt" on numerous
occasions. He has all the physical skills it takes to reach the top
and when he acquires the experience and knowledge he has the
potential to be one of the sport's truly great fishermen. Watch for
him because he will go as far as he wants to.

I have been a
Sheet Metal Worker for Local #36, in St. Louis, Missouri for 20
years. I am a single father of 2 teenagers (Phillip & Maggie) and
they truly are my best friends. Once the kids are out of school I
plan to move to the Lake of the Ozarks, which in my opinion is the
best lake in America, and fish full time. Phillip plans to live with
me forever (we'll have to see about that one) and become a guide on
the Lake of the Ozarks. Maggie is planning on going to Mizzou and
becoming a veterinarian. She is my "Little Princess" and pretty much
runs the show around here.
