Question: Knot for fishing two crankbaits

Postby mdmaynard on Thu May 22, 2008 11:54 am

Hello All!

I was watching a fishing show on the out door channel last weekend. The guy was fishing using two crankbaits at the same time about 1 - 2 foot apart. After the commercial he was going to show how to tie on second crankbait but I missed it.

Does anyone have any idea how this is done, what know is used to tie the extra leader 1 - 2 foot above the other crankbait?
Thank you

I missed the show.

My only guess would be using a palomar knot and using the tag end to tie the 2nd crankbait...

When dealing with Trophy Size Bass, you have
to pay extreme attention to the smallest detail
and do everything with as much stealth as
possible, just to be successful some of the time.

Sounds like a good tactic ,I agree ,a palomar knot would be the simplest way to to do that without a three way swivel which is another way you could do it , I never tried it but I have used a three way with a large sinker one a 1 ft. leader and a small shallow running crank bait on a longer leader ...this allows you to get the a small crank bait down deep ....let the weight drag the bottom and use a floating crank bait ( i use a small rapala minnow) with about a two foot leader .
I am looking at some war eagle front runners that are made do fish in front of a crank bait or top water according to Mike McClullen and war eagle lures co. You can check em out at the war eagles web page (wareaglelures.com
